STRAWMAN’s year in review includes many firsts for the band and one incident we’d like to quickly forget!

2011 began with an exciting gig at Toronto’s famous Bovine Sex Club.

A few weeks later we entered the Co-op studios in Toronto to record our “dark pop” single called ‘End the Romance’, which is available at here or for FREE if you like STRAWMAN on Facebook.

Another highlight for us was our August gig at the behemoth waterfront venue the ‘Sound Academy’.  The crowd was great and the Toronto skyline was an amazing backdrop.

The buzz generated by the new single and the ‘Sound Academy’ performance landed STRAWMAN two interviews with ‘Guitar Justice Magazine’ and ‘Supernova’.

Throughout the year STRAWMAN learned of some commercial success as the singles ‘Isolated’, ‘Another Puppet’, and ‘Are You Sleeping’ were used in episodes of ‘Biker TV’, Canada’s only tv show dedicated to all things motorcycle.  We also received radio airplay on the East Coast and our single ‘Another Puppet’ was used as a soundtrack for Septagon Studios digital comic release of ‘Gator Butch’ .

Near the end of the year STRAWMAN entered Epik Productions recording studios for yet another recording session for the single ‘Locked Doors’. The single is due for release in early 2012 with a music video to accompany it.

The year ended with a bad break, literally, (STRAWMAN drummer Duff, suffered a fractured hand – rumoured to be hurt in a tete a tete with the one and only Seth Rogan…..

With half the rhythm section on the IR list, we’ve used the brief hiatus to setup shop at our new studio in the depths of R.E.D. Channel Records, develop new material, lay pre-production tracks for another single to be recorded at Epik in early 2012 and begin planning for an even busier year.
We’d like to thank Jezla of the band RED for engineering Locked Doors, CeeDee of aADP Records for the mixing and Mike the Mystery Masterer for putting on the finishing touches.  We can’t forget our graphics man JUS for conveying the STRAWMAN story in pictures, and, as always, we’d like to thank all the ‘STRAWMANIACS’ for their continued friendship and support!
